Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Kosovo*

Concerning the internationalization of higher education and research, the Kosova Center for International Cooperation in Higher Education, Science and Technology (K-CIRT), which is a unit within the ministry, plays a particularly important role. The Center’s mission includes activities to promote and facilitate cooperation, standardization and mobility at an international level, to overcome cultural barriers in communication and exchange in the area of higher education at an international scale, to foster the development of research capacity, and to promote European programmes.

Furthermore, the Center works for the promotion of Kosovo as a destination for education and research and has an advisory function in matters concerning internationalization of higher education, science and technology. Through its work K-CIRT stimulates international cooperation, encourages cooperation in various projects with international partner institutions, supports student mobility while at the same time creating strategies for preventing brain drain, and facilitates the establishment of a National Contact Point international programmes and projects such as the 7th Framework for Research and Technological Development (FP7).
